Several lovely readers asked me how I made the embroidery hoop pinboards I used for Renegade Craft Fair in Austin and in my very own studio. So today I'm sharing my secret. Really, it's as easy as pie. :)
Here's what you need:
Embroidery Hoop
Foam Board
Fabric
Kraft Paper (optional)
Paint
Modge Podge
Scissors (strong pair and fabric scissors)
Paint Brushes
Pen
1. Paint the outer most hoop of your embroidery hoop a pretty color to match your fabric if you wish. While this is drying move on to the next steps of the project.
2. Trace (using the inner side of your small embroidery hoop piece) a circle. Cut out your circle using an exact knife or super strong scissors (titanium coated) like I did.
3. Cut out a round piece of fabric using your hoop as a cutting guide leaving two to three inches on the outer edge. Pop your smaller hoop inside the large one, just as you would any time you embroider something.
4. Pop in your foam board piece into the back side. Paint on your modge podge to the inner circle and a two inch radius of the inside rim (right onto the foam board). Press your fabric carefully into the modge podge and smooth it down. Then paint one more coat of modge podge over the fabric (the two inches around the rim) and the center white part of your foam board. Cover it with a round piece of kraft paper to keep your back intact and to have a finished look.
You are done! Hang it up and start pinning. :)
See, I told you it was easy. :) Have fun making one! If you do email me a picture mrs.wilsonland (at) hotmail (dot) com
