For the Making Christmas Blog Series this holiday season I have asked my favorite bloggers and blogging friends to contribute fun tutorials and projects for Christmas. Up first is Mollie Johanson from Wild Olive, she has designed something really sweet just for you today. Mollie also has a cute etsy shop full printable embroidery patterns that would be great to use for Christmas gift making too. Mollie's holiday tutorial follows below... (love, Erin)
Here's what you need:
Wool or wool blend felt
Embroidery floss
Tracing paper
Needle
Scissors
Craft glue
Embroidery pattern (use these freshly drawn up designs, or choose your own!)
Trace your pattern onto the tracing paper, then stitch through the paper and felt at the same time. When you've finished stitching, use the guide around the pattern to cut the outer shape. It's best to cut an extra layer at the same time to ensure they are both the same size/shape.
Carefully tear away the tracing paper, making sure that you don't tug at the stitches.
Apply craft glue to the back of the embroidery. Spreading it across the whole backside will help keep the ornament flat when it's dry. Just don't get too close to the edge. Place the second piece of felt over the glue and smooth it out to keep it flat.
Thread a length of embroidery floss through the top, and tie a knot. This makes a simple hanger.
Make one ornament, or make a bunch!

I keep seeing all these amazing DIY's for the holidays and I CANNOT WAIT TO MOVE BACK HOME TO START ALL MINE! I am packing up and can't put any decorations up or anything...so frustrating. but at least I get to see all the wonderful things on the blogs and I love these felt ornaments!
