I finally finished getting all of the recent wedding shower extravaganza photos off my camera and into a post for you. I know I've mentioned this even a few times in the last couple of months, maybe a little too much, I've just been excited about it all. Three family friends, my two sisters and I threw this shower for my brother and my future-sister-in-law. Not all of us live in the same state so trying to throw a party throw phone calls, a brief lunch date over spring break, emails and such wasn't the easiest task. We invited around 80 guests and the shower was hosted at my parent's home. It was mainly a collaboration of ideas but I will admit I picked the color palette based of Emily (my soon to be sister-in-law's wedding flower colors). She's young and bubbly so we all thought this would be a good fit. You can see some of my inspiration boards for the party in this post.
We had a really good time putting the shower together, decorating and baking and all. Even though my baby sister made what seemed like 200 cheesecake cake pops (we gave them away as shower favors and had some on the dessert table) complained the entire time. What else are little sisters for? Haha. In the end Emily seemed to love it all and we were happy to put on a shower for her to receive gifts for their new home.
My soon to be sister and my momma. I know I know, my mom? She's young and she looks younger than she is and I know...she looks like my sister. I get it all the time. Just thought I'd clarify before you guys thought I was lying or something. Isn't she cute in her chevron print dress?! I adore her and my new sister-in-law. I made their corsages for them, maybe I'll show you how to do that yourself. Tutorial?
It was a really sweet party, we invited all family friends that we've known for what seems like forever. There were many giggles and it was so good to see my parent's friends that I haven't seen in long long time. This was our food area, buffet style, on my parent's kitchen island. We took our decor inspiration from a couple of pins I found on pinterest. Pinterest to the party decor rescue right? We made breakfast bread bowls, french toast casserole, tiny tomato bites, fruit cups with fresh whipped cream, scones, mini-muffins and egg casseroles.
My baby sister Kate, my Auntie Lisa and my Grandma Faye. Hi Grandma! (she reads my blog) She's probably the best Grandma in the world. No doubt.
One of the family friends co-hosting the shower with us had the idea to make tissue pom napkin rings as well as multi-color punch placed in small thin vases for the dessert table. I think all the ladies LOVED the punch in the vases. There was peach, pineapple, lime and strawberry banana flavored punch in all the perfect colors. My baby sister (who is about to start culinary school to become a pastry chef) baked strawberry cheesecake cupcakes, vanilla cupcakes and a ton of cheesecake cake pops.
I live for party planning. I cannot deny my obsession. Even if it isn't a party at my house or a party of my own personal aesthetic ...I still just love it. This party however, turned out very pretty and elegant. I think Emily loved it. Can't wait till the rest of my siblings get married because I'm going to go all party planning crazy.
